The King of Hearts

I never used a coin.
Even as a child, when everyone else was flipping coins to settle a debate, I had my own system. I would take a deck of cards and split it into two piles. One pile I called Yes. The other, No. And then I would look for my card.
The King of Hearts.
There was something about that card. Red, warm, a little mysterious. I trusted him completely. Wherever he landed, whichever pile he ended up in, that was my answer.
Back then, I would sometimes reshuffle, ask again, go best of three. We all do that when we don’t like what we hear. But years of asking taught me that the moment you start chasing a specific answer, the whole thing falls apart. You are no longer asking. You are negotiating. And the universe does not negotiate. If you don’t like the first answer, put the cards down or at least don’t expect it to work.
Books, Rain and Private Deals with the Universe
Then I moved on to books. You know that thing where you close your eyes, open a page at random, point your finger, and read whatever sentence you land on? I tried that. With regular books, with quote collections, even with the Bible. But it never really worked for me. The sentences were often so specific, so concrete, that there was no magic in them. Just a random line about something completely unrelated to what I was asking. It felt flat. Books were not my thing, though.
And when at the moment of question I had no cards and no books, I invented my own systems. If the next car that passes is red, the answer is yes. If I wake up before my alarm, it means go ahead. If it rains before noon, wait. Little private rituals that sound absurd written down but felt completely logical at the time.
But don’t think that I am obsessed with asking. I am not someone who cannot make a move without consulting something. Most of the time I trust myself, I make decisions, I figure things out the way everyone does. These tools were never a crutch. They were more like a quiet corner to step into when the noise got too loud and I needed to hear myself think.
For some periods I used nothing at all. Life gets busy, you stop listening, you just push forward and hope for the best.

The Russian Oracle Cards Website and War 2022
Then about ten years ago I found a website with oracle cards. I used it sometimes when I had a question I couldn’t shake. It was fine. But I never loved it. The cards repeated themselves too often and the whole thing started to feel mechanical rather than meaningful. And it was russian, which was acceptable until 2022, but then it stopped feeling fine at all.
So the website quietly disappeared from my life.
And for a while I was back to nothing. Or back to watching the sky and making private deals with the universe.
Why I Built This
This year something shifted. I was thinking about that old website, about my childhood cards, about all those years of asking in one form or another. And I thought: why not build my own? Something that feels the way asking has always felt for me. Not random noise, but a real moment of stillness. A tool with intention behind it.
So I built Decision Maker Guru.
I came up with the idea on April 2 during a regatta. You know, you have a lot of silent time to think. Far from the land, with no internet and only endless sea and sky.
When we were sailing back on April 5, I was crystallising the details.
April 5 the domain was registered and after some problems with hosting, on April 8 the first ugly version was already in place.
April 9 could be considered the date of birth of Decision Maker Guru, because I already liked what I had built.
The First Test of My New Decision Maker Guru
Yesterday, when I finally finished building it, I sat down and started asking questions. Some of them are about things I will know soon, days or maybe weeks from now. Others are about things that will take years to unfold. I asked honestly, the way I always asked my cards. No hedging, full openness, and genuine curiosity about what it would say. A real question and a real willingness to hear the answer, whatever it turned out to be.
And this morning, one of those answers already proved itself true.
I had asked something yesterday. A simple yes or no, something I genuinely did not know the answer to, something that did not depend on me at all. The circle said Yes. Clean, no “likely” or “probably,” just yes. And by morning, reality confirmed it. I had done nothing to make it happen. It just did.
First test, first result.
The Answer Is Already There. Your Energy Helps You Hear It.
I know how this sounds. I know some of you are reading this with a smile, thinking it’s a coincidence. Maybe it is. But here is what I have learned from years of asking in every possible way: the answer itself matters less than the moment of asking. When you stop, hold a real question, and genuinely listen, something shifts. You are no longer spinning in your head. You are present. And in that presence, things become clearer.
The decision maker is not magic. Or maybe it is, a little. What it definitely is, is intention.
I built this tool for myself first. I tested it the way I tested everything as a child, with full seriousness and zero irony. And now I am putting it here, on this page, because I believe it can do for other people what two decks of cards and a King of Hearts did for me all those years ago.

Try “Yes or No” decision maker now. Let me know what you think at the bottom of the page.
